If you want the actual books, a great source for high-quality bound reprints
is Portrayal Press, PO Box 1190N, Andover, NJ 07821 (973) 579-5781.

You can see them on the web at http://www.portrayal.com/

If you are interested in a CD-ROM of these manuals, consider the once called
"JEEPS!" from Military Media Productions, 7454 Lancaster Pike, PMB321,
Hockessin DE 19707 (610) 268-5077.

You can see them on the web at http://www.military-media.com

For parts and supplies: There are quite a few dealers selling both NOS (new,
old stock) and used parts for M38 jeeps. When ordering parts be sure to
specify yours is an M38 not an M38A1.

Some likely places to try include (not in any particular order)...

Army Jeep Parts (George Baxter) PO Box 1006, Canal & Jefferson Sts. Annex,
Bristol, PA 19007. (215) 788-6012, (215) 788-6023 fax

Peter DeBella Jeep Parts. 242D Silas Carter Rd., Manorville,
NY 11949. 516-874-8660.

RAPCO Parts Co. (Mark Dodd) PO Box 191, Bowie, TX 76230.
940-872-2403, 940-872-3406 fax

Front Line Military Vehicles. (Jeff Hain-Matson) 560 Bull Run Road,
Wrightsville, PA 17368. 717-252-4489, 717-252-4499 fax.

D & L Bensinger (Daryl & Lida Bensinger) 2442 Main St., Narvon, PA 17555.

Also check out http://www.olive-drab.com/ for all sorts of great info
on military vehicles. In particular look at
http://www.olive-drab.com/od_mvg_dealers.html for a good list of parts
dealers.

Other resources include

Military Vehicle Preservation Association

Military Vehicles Magazine http://members.aol.com/mvehicle/home.htm

I'd say my M38 was built just before yours. It is serial number
20373 delivered 5/51 . They're absolutely great vehicles!
Good luck with yours...
