These are bead locks. They were intended to act as "run flats", so the tire
would not dismount if flat. They replaced the combat rim bolt-on lock ring,
but they were awkward to install and use. Most of them disappeared, as the
mechanics did the right thing and discarded them. They were dandy for opening
a bone-deep gash in your hand, among other things. There was someone on the
M37 forum a while ago that was searching for a quantity of these. Just one
of the army's better ideas!

 
 
 
 Have a question for list.
 
 On three of the four wheels on this truck there are spaced evenly around the
 wheel between tire and wheel 6 inside and 6 outside, pieces of flat metal
 about and inch wide and the extend out past wheel about 1/2 inch. >>
