DMV in CALIFORNIA - takes a bite for weight fees!

How do you avoid paying those horrendous weight fees for your deuce and halfs?

Just registered my 1.5 ton (7500 lbs gross) and got socked $220 extra!
Decided to register as Historical Vehicle. All I needed was to and from
events, club activities, repair place. Is there a better way? Thanks in
advance. Jack
