What works best to remove cosmolene on weapons? Gasoline???

Does anyone know where I could get a rivet pack for the Browning 1919A4 or
the demilled right side plate? The ones I've found in shotgun news run about
$225 for the 80% types. Must something cheaper. Decided not to try to make
it semi-auto, just too many people would freak out! lol

Somebody recently sent me some info. on an aluminum right side plate, but
during my recent hard drive crash, I lost all my notes! Sorry.

PS What the heck is cosmolene anyway?? I know what it does, just not sure
