Jeff,

I don't own a HMV (still looking for the right one) but I have several
friends who do. I asked them about insurance. They use an agency called
Nesheim Insurance here in Minnesota. Phone is: 651-683-1019. I called them
and was told "about $99 for a year" based on collector/antique status. Some
restrictions apply. Can't be used as a daily driver. Can't be used for
commercial purposes. Limited to about 2500 miles per year. This was for a 5
ton vehicle. For what it's worth, I checked with my regular automotive
insurer and was told that it would cost me about $3500.00 per year to insure
a 5 ton truck. When I explained that I wasn't going to use it commercially,
they said that this was the only coverage that they had available. Good
Luck.

John

Hi List,
I insured my newly acquired M-35 through my local insurance company last
month. The premium for a full coverage policy (on an antique/collectors
vehicle) was an amazing $90 per year. Yesterday I receive a message
telling me the vehicle is too heavy for that policy and I have to insure
it as a "regular" vehicle for $500 per year.

Can anyone tell me if this is a reasonable premium? Am I being gouged
because my agent doesn't know anything about this type vehicle? Is there
another insurance company out there that will cover these trucks at a
reasonable rate and what can I expect to pay?

As always, thanks for the response.
