I don't know what your towing capacities are, but I am certain that is to much for a M998. I would also get the trailer brakes working with your M35A2. You never know when someone is going to pull out in front of you or make a rapid lane change. I personally don't like to tow more weight than what the towing vehicle weighs, unless I'm using a fifth wheel. Local police in my area (Pennsylvania) are now pulling over all trucks including pickups for safety inspections. They are checking for trailer brakes, tarped loads, tire condition, overloading and whatever else they can find.
Keep 'em rolling.
