Also, to the original poster, be careful that the vendor and the purchaser
share the same definition of
"working". I've purchased military radios from individuals (in the past,
mind) who figured that
"working" meant that:

a) the dial light came on
b) it hissed rather convincingly
c) "when I keyed the mike it made a whirring-kinda noise"
d) transmitting on 47.90 and receiving on 46.90 while
     indicating 48.25 "is just a simple adjustment"

Been there, done that....got the t-shirt.
