Bill Research

I have been attempting to understand the information made available on the
web in regards to the much discussed and cussed HR4205 version with the
offensive passages (Title III, Subtitle G, Sec 361).

In locating records from the Senate, 6 versions were listed. The final (I
hope) was number 6, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year
2001 (Engrossed Senate Amendment) HR4205EAS.

That particular version didn't contain the passages we're concerned about.

Located at: http://www.senate.gov/, and entering HR4205 in the Bill Search
by number .

When you select that particular bill number, and then the Link to Bill
Summary and Status Link, and then select Bill Status with Amendments link,
you see that the last actions are on July 27 with a lot of committee
appointments.

If you return to http://www.senate.gov/ and select the Current Status of
FY2001 Appropriation Bills, you will see a Defense title with HR 4576, that
has been passed into law, as PL106-259, on 08/09/2000. It is "Making
appropriations for the Department of Defense for the fiscal year ending
September 30, 2001, and for other purposes.

I don't believe that they are the one in the same.

Anybody else want to check it out and confer or disagree?

John
