Dave,
Check to make sure the spark plug wires are installed in the
correct firing order. It's easy to switch close together wires,
like 2 & 3, for example.
See if theres a crack in the distributor cap, the small one
inside of the big metal cap. Look for etch marks where the
spark is shorting.
You might have an intake valve not seating. Run a compression
test. With a cold engine, the results will vary quite a bit between
cylinders, so you might have to put a squirt of oil in each cylinder
and engage the starter to spread the oil out and help seal the
piston rings. A real low pressure reading on a cylinder could
sure mean a valve is hanging up.
