Weather overcast but no rain on ceremony. Present and accounted for at
Vancouver, BC, Canada ceremony: 600 Royal Canadian Air Cadets (plus odds and
sods officers - myself included), my Willys MB in RCAF markings, one of my
1942 BSA airborne bicycles, folded, fly-over by Canadian Air Force T-33
(this 1950s a/c is usually older than the pilot! T-33s are due to be phased
out in next couple of years.), Harvard (= US AT-6) and Spitfire. Many
interesting air force veterans there and also Brigadier Budge Bell-Irving, a
fellow Seaforth Hoghlander, who was hailed as the liberator of Amsterdam in
1945 and again in a later event (1980?) where he rode through Amsterdam
standing up in Kuuk Griep's jeep of the KTR (Keep Them Rolling Club in
Holland). Harvard and Spitfire flew over twice, but the trees in Stanly Park
are about a hundred of feet high, so we only caught a glimpse of the
aircraft unfortunately.
