You see two types of oil filters on M-38s and M-38A1s, a standard AC
cartridge type and a smaller screen type deal with a handle on top. What is
this later unit? How did it work? How long was it used? It reminds me of
some fuel filters we had on marine engines. You opened a drain on the
bottom and when you spun the handle, the crud was scraped off a very fine
screen a flushed out the drain hole.
