I'm all for keeping the air clean etc... But....
Many years ago I had a Chev Vega (the 1st totally disposable car, I think),
Anyway the charcoal filter failed and shot the carburetor full of charcoal,
since that time I have removed them where I have found them.

Just a thought...Rikk Rogers

One reason for charcoal in a Mutt is that the driver wants to make a
barbeque. (Remember the Bratwurst...)

The other reason is, that there is a canister filled with active charcoal,
which takes the fumes (vapour) from the fuel tank and the carburettor,
when the engine is not running but still hot. The air goes through the
charcoal, but the hydrocarbons "stick" at the charcoal. When the engine
starts again, it sucks air back though the canister and takes the
hydrocarbons back. So it cleans the active charcoal.

Best regards
Andreas
