Before you all get the demolition gear out....

A friend of mine embarked on a similar project a couple of years ago - part
of the Job was to rescue a WW2 Anti Aircraft Battery site which was at the
time negotiations started for the site was complete, 5 nissen huts, 4 gun
platforms and the command bunker, unfortunately just before they completed
purchase of the site the farmer tore down the steel nissen hut structures to
use the steel sheet on his barn.

When they took over the site all that remained of the nissen hut complex
were the contrete hut bases and the end walls...

Not to be out done he found some replacement structures due to be demolished
on a Royal Naval site, had them dismantled and moved. They were then rebuilt
according to modern building regulations with a grant obtained from the
local authority and now form the accomodation part of a local facility for
school childrens summer field trips.

On the outside the buildings look much as they might during the war... on
the inside they are warm and comfortable, albeit somewhat basic.

The next job is to restore the rest of the site with its Napoleonic
fortifications....

The possibilities there are endless...

Regards

Tim
