Howdy list,
Thanks to everyone who replied. BTW, she was cited with responsibility of the
wreck. The police officer was 100% on my side. I think she was cited for "failure
to yield to right of way" or something like that. The officer also noted that the
skid marks & distance from impact to my vehicle was consistent with legal speed
limit. I didn't get a chance to hit the brake until maybe 1/2 sec before impact &
I ended up less than 60ft from the point of impact.
Just to be safe & remembering the problems another list member had a few months
ago, I made sure to keep my lights on until the officer arrived. It was full
sunlight but I hadn't turned off the lights yet. I thought that would at least
give an additional "visibility" bonus! Not to mention, I'm in rural Georgia & my
matte OD truck w/ lights on is a heck of a lot more visable than most hunting
trucks painted camo. Especially with hunting season opening this weekend. Heck,
around here some people consider my truck's paintjob to be high visibility.
Either way, the low-vis paint doesn't give someone the right to run a stopsign.
I'll be going by the bodyshop for estimates tomorrow so I'll keep everyone
informed. Thanks again for the support & advice.
