Turning LDT 465-1D to LDS 465-1A?

Hi List,

I was checking out the TM9-2815-210-34P, June '98 parts manual for the 1D
turbo deuce motor and the LDS 1A 5 ton motor (same manual), it seems that
the differences between the two are not many, just minor stuff like oil pans
and oil pump pickup tubing, the oil filter adapter, clutch housing, etc.
Getting to the actual internal mechanics, here is what I found...The only
difference internally is the LDS motor has a different intake valve rocker
arm, exhaust arm is the same as on the LDT. The valves and all the parts in
the heads except that intake rocker are the same as well (including the
head). Block...same. Camshaft...same there too! Pistons...same.
Injectors...same. Turbo...same on both motors.

So, an idea came to mind looking at this manual, I think that the LDS might
have a higher ratio intake valve rocker arm, what's to stop deuce owners
with the 1D motor to swap to this rocker arm, juice up the injection pump,
and have an extra 125 lb. torque and 40 HP? Ok, maybe a LDS pump might be
in order to get the full power out of this conversion, but it seems like
quite the interesting modification! Anyone ever try doing this? Anything
that I am missing here?

Andy
