Subject: [MV] M1009 project

Hello List.
Well I don't know if any body cares but I sill tell ya'll about how my
M-1009 project is going.....

First off let me say that the glow plug system on the GM vehicles is poorly
designed at best. After trouble shooting and fixing a problem everything
works fine then another problem rears its ugly head. I am tired of chasing
new glow plug problems so I drilled a hole in the blank that covers the
radio position and installed a starter button then wired 12 volts from the
switch to the "s" terminal of the relay and energize the glow plugs
manually. Works great, I should have done it a long time ago.
My M-1009 has the rocker panels rusted out so I bought replacements from JC
Whitney and today cut out the old ones and am ready to weld the new ones in
place. I know nothing about body work and am learning a lot about it as I go
along. I would have hoped GM would have put the energy into the glow plug
system that they put into the spot welding that they put on that rocker
panel. Jeez there must have been 25 spot welds on that thing! What a pain in
the ^**)().

If anyone needs advice on where to start and what to do when replacing
rocker panels drop me a line and I will give you a run down on what needs to
come off and what to cut. I guess if you get a CUCV real cheap you had
better be ready to put a lot of time into it. another lesson learned.

What fun.
Regards
Emmett
