Coming up on November 26 and 27 is a program on the Science Channel (part of
the Discovery Channel organization, carried on digital networks) that
focuses on the Deuce-and-a-half, the DUKW, the bulldozer and C-47. I saw
this program once last Spring when it was on the Discovery Channel, and the
10 minutes they devote to the Deuce was worth it. The program Series is
titled "Hard Wired", and the title of this program is "Machines That Won the
War."

Machines that Won the War

After World War II, Eisenhower attributed the Allies' success to the skill,
tenacity and superiority of the troops and four machines: the 2.5-ton truck,
the DUKW landing craft, the bulldozer and the C-47 airplane. Examine each of
the war machines.
