For all hands: In response to posting on duplicates of burned mil records
having been found that were destroyed in fire in St Louis - Have gotten
confirmation from referenced source, American Legion magazine, that they did
not in fact publish anything about duplicates of the burned records lost in
St Louis fire. Records are still lost/destroyed.

Dear Maj. Rayfield:

Several members of The American Legion National Headquarters staff were at
the NPRC in St. Louis a little over a week ago. No one then knew of any
recovered backup documents.

Rest assured the NPRC staff will look into this. If it's more than a rumor,
then expect to see an update in The American Legion Magazine and the VA&R
Bulletin, both of which are posted on the Web site, < www.legion.org
<http://www.legion.org> >.
