To the best of my poor memory ( Always open for correction ) only the M50? water tanker,
M49? fuel tanker, and also the M59? dump could be fitted for cargo covers. The tankers used
longer upright supports and no racks. The dump trucks could be used for both cargo and troop
transport. The tie-down points on the tankers are the same as the ones used on the cargo trucks.
I only have a small black and white photo showing a M49 2 1/2 ton fuel tanker with the cargo
cover installed, but the sides have been rolled up and it shows only longer up-rights being used
and no racks. So I would say that no racks were used on the wreckers. I do not think there are
any tie-down hooks on the sides of the wreckers?
So you can see why making the tank trucks appear the same as a cargo truck from the air, but
as for the wreckers.... I'm not much help.

Subject: [MV] cargo canvas on a wrecker

canvas. I was told that this was done to make the trucks appear the same from the air. My wrecker (M543A2)
has stake pockets similar to, but not as deep as, my M35A2s and my M813A1 cargo trucks. I was wondering if
anyone has any information on installing a rear cargo cover on a wrecker. Are racks/troops seats supposed to
be installed first? Are extended bows supposed to be installed instead? Also, how do you tie the cargo cover
down?
