Front drive

Ok,
I have this set on CD, it is good as far as it goes, but assumes that you
have some idea of what you are doing from the start.

I am having a minor problem with the front drive not engaging (sometimes it
does sometimes not).
I can feel it kick in, in general driving in ice and snow, but when stuck it
seldom kicks in, and works a whole lot better in rev than fwd.
I have a suggestion of filling the Xfer with diesel for a short time to
clean out the gunk.

What I am looking for now is a better understanding of how the front drive
system works.
If I hade a spare Xfer, I could take it apart, and figure the automatic
system out.
I'm not sure I could put it back together and have it work.

What is the best info on this system?

If I am not mistaken, you do not want a ORD-9, they are for WWII era stuff
(I am refraining from my voicing my distain for pre "M" Series vehicles <G>)

The later M series manuals are numbered
2320-XXXX-XXXX-10 User Manual
2320-XXXX--XXX-20 Basic Maint
2320-XXXX-XXX-20P Basic Maint Parts
2320-XXXX-XXX-34 Depot Maint
2320-XXXX-XXX-34P Depot Maint Parts

There are more numbers, and there are also combinations of numbers (User and
basic maint)

But if you want the equivelent of the ORD 9 for the later truck you would
want the -34P

Check with Joe Young, I got a bunch of manuals for my deuce from him.

Good luck
