MV History

Since there are lots of historians on the list, I thought it might be
interesting to get some perspective on something I've been pondering. What's
the earliest use of winches (mounted for recovery) you've seen on MVs of
3-ton capacity and below? The earliest I've found is from 1902, on a special
Motor Field Forge built by the US Long Distance Company. I also have a
couple of one-offs on FWD trucks of WWI. There are big gaps between there
and WWII, with a few exceptions being the Dodge K-39 of 1934 and the VC
series Dodges of 1939-40. I'm also curious about winch manufacturers.
Braden, of course, comes up. Any others?
