12 volt verse 6 volt

We are contemplating on what to do with the electrical system. It would be
nice to have a 12 volt system for jumps, but 6 volt would be nice for
originality. Is there any way to use a 12 volt battery, for the starter and
supplemental fuel pump and then some how step it down to 6 volt for the rest
of the system? Any Ideas, schematics, things that have been tried.
