Monte,
            I remember seeing that battery box modification in MV mag. It
looked clean and neat, but I haven't tried it. The upgrade I recently
finished, I used a ammo can mounted to the fender. The original battery box
was shot. Other than that it was original.
This did include the fenders and wide tires.
Here is a list of what they used: Wide wheels and tires
                                                       Fenders, right side
had a battery box
                                                       Starter, Alternator,
voltage reg.,and starter solenoid(alt., volt reg.,and solenoid came from
M880)
                                                        Box attached to
steering column that held a ON/OFF switch and momentary switch.
                                                         double belt pulley
to drive fan and alternator

The whole thing was clean and neat, and apparently done with a lot of
planning. I can't believe there is not some TM covering it.
