There was a movie, c.1969, which had two titles depending on what side of
the Atlantic you were on: "La Cattura", or "The Ravine."

David McCallum was a German Special Forces-type assigned to take out a bunch
of Yugoslav partisans, and his counterpart on the other side of the
battlements was an equally capable woman. I don't believe it's available on
video, though TBS likes this sort of thing in the wee hours if you can put
up with all their inept clipping, cutting and dialogue monkey-wrenching. It
certainly drives me scatty.
