One of mine has a bent center post. I bought a new one after the fact which
I have not put in yet but I just kept tightening it till the leak was just a
periodic drip. You seem to have a very perplexing problem. Your relief
valve could be stuck shut thus allowing an excessive build up of pressure
but then you say you don't see any on the gauge??? Does the gauge work?
Maybe you should temporarily tap in a mechanical pressure gauge.

Yup, I been there. Was your's blown resulting from that little pig tail
wire rubbing on the cover and shorting? I did an extra duty re-insulation
job on that wire. I also had a 30A fuse (blown) in mine, gee, let's just
put in a 200 amp fuse and make a welder out of it!
