Al,
The runaway we are talking about here, is from the truck sitting for a long
period of time.
In my case 5 years.
This causes a part in the injector pump to freeze up when the diesel inside
the pump evaporates.
In general use this is not a worry,
However, it is good to keep in mind that if you get near a petroleum gas
leak (pipeline, tank, ect...)a diesel engine can over-rev from this also,
and due to the fact, that in that case, the "fuel" is coming in from the air
intake, you can't shut it down.
If you are quick thinking, you can bog it down with the gears and brakes,
like killing it by popping the clutch.
