I have a PRC-77 that I use on my mule. I was told that there was an article in one of the military mags that told how to make your own batteries out of standard C or D cell lithium or alkaline batteries that will work better and last longer than the surplus ones available. I believe it describes how to make a base that the batteries snap into and wires them in series to make the 12 volts needed. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks..........Alan
