Hobart willy's Engines

Having done a Hobart engine conversion for my GPW (Sacrilege), here's my
observations (Hope it posts to the list)

1.) The double pulley on the front will need replacement (You know the GPA
guys NEED these!!!!)
2.) The starter (and the larger flywheel) are different, you will need to
use the originals off another engine.
3.) You must grind the web of the casting off the rear of the engine on both
sides to clear the timing cover inspection hole, and bring it into spec with
the earlier block casting. (The generator housing has extra strengthening
material Verses a plate like the motor engine did)
4.) remove and ? sell ? the governor assembly to someone with a need for it
(this is what the second pulley belt was for)

That sucker runs REALLY well, allowing 52 MPH. Has the hardened seats, and
valve stem caps. It was there, I needed a new engine, and it was only
$35.00. This is a Great alternative to having the jeep sit around for a
season while I look for an original Ford engine (or willys), as they had
shaved the block, allowing the pistons to slap (destroy) themselves on the
head when I had bought it. (stupid mechanic)

PS: Enjoyed the Aberdeen Show, Still seeking a TOW missile Daysight
assembly!!!!
