When I used to be purchasing agent for a mid-sized company we bought belt
material to use on equipment that took considerable dismantling to replace
broken belts -- there were two basic types - one was a length of whatever
belt you needed A. B. C. etc, ; letter designation for belt width you cut
the length you needed and there was a hinge mechanism that you pinned to
each cut end and then with a cross pin fastened them together. The worked
just fine -only draw back was that you heard a click each time hinge passed
over pulley -

the other was made from several pieces of belting of various widths
depending on belt you were trying to replace. Each piece having a two pins
that fastened it to the next pieces - one pin went through both pieces and
you simply used as many links as you need to make length you want.

I know my description leaves a lot to be desired but I suggest you contact
your closes mill-supply dealer they will know what you are talking about.
