Thanks to all who replied to my question!

Now I have a better idea what the differences are. My GRC-142A shelter is
the S-318 type (1770 lbs.) and not the S-250 type which is heavier. Looks
like I can get away without the helper springs which are added to the M1028
version (the M1008 is rated for 2900 lbs. payload).
My last concern is whether the current rating of the dual 12V alternator
system is compatible with the current requirements of the GRC-142A system
(GRC-106A, etc). If not, I'll be looking for the heavy duty 24V
alternator/commo electrical kit - NSN 2320-01-123-2671.

I'll have to get the manual before I'm taking delivery of the truck. Any
opinions as to what are the "must" manuals for the for the M1008, etc.
CUCV's?
