I think you might find that they may just be really tight. I was
afraid that the L-shaped clamp would break the hand guard when I put
it on the first time, but it does go on.

I'm actually thinking about putting in a slightly weaker spring in
mine since I use it with replica M16-series guns (Airsoft versions)
and have to put the guns in and take them out a lot when we're doing
our combat sims.
