I'd be more tempted to think that if the engine is running fairly well, no
knocks, etc. That the problem is most likely the oil pump. I'd think about
pulling the pan and taking out the pump and checking it out. It doesn't take
much increased oil pump gear clearance to really lose oil pressure.
