Probably Dana 44 axles. Jeep guys like to shorten them to fit in the jeeps.
You see it discussed in all the off road mags. My 1972 Chevy Suburban has a
Dana 44 front axle. (as did the truck & blazer of the time) To further
confuse the point, I was looking for wheel hubs for the Suburban & this was
one of the responses I got:

> > also the dana 44s with drums have a funky closed knuckle setup... if
thats the one you need i got a hub
first off what year is the truck? i forgot but 70s have open knuckles.... if
its a 67-69 than i can help you out

huh? too bad the Suburban wasn't a HMV, or I would have posted here instead!

Later,
Brian

P.S. WAHOO! something I knew! I've actually added to the list instead of
just asking questions. My day has been made...man & after 4 years on this
list too! =^)
