Threaded Holes on M35A2 Windshield Frame...For What?

Hi List...

I'm getting ready to attach a pair of flag staff holder tubes on the
deuce for our Cub Scout pack flag and the US flag for the upcoming
local parade.

While looking for existing mounting points, I noticed that on the
driver's side below the windshield frame just in front of the top door
hinge, there are two threaded holes facing straight out to the left
side. There are no corresponding holes like this on the passenger
side. Does anyone know what these were originally for? A different
mirror maybe?

Thanks in advance!
