I do think we had a list member in touch with the NRA, but I don't remember
who.

This is copied from the Experimental Aircraft Association. website.

It seems they are leading this fight, the MVPA notice is buried in the
website
rather then on the home page and the NRA-ILA site has nothing about it. I am
a
bit concerned about this. Has anyone else heard from the NRA about this?

CONGRESSIONAL BILLS ON DEMILITARIZATION: UPDATE
The warbird community, as well as others within the
aviation

community, is eager for the latest information on the
status
of the U.S.
Senate and House of Representative bills, in which
specific
sections
call for the demilitarization of significant military
equipment formerly
owned by the Department of Defense.

As of 3 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, September 26, 2001, we
know
the
                    following:

House of Representatives: Bill H.R.2586 did pass in the
House.
However, this bill did not contain any language calling
for
                    demilitarization. It was previously removed.

Senate Bill S.1438 (originally S.1155, subsequently
S.1416)
has been
pulled from the Senate floor and will be reintroduced on
Tuesday,
October 2. There is no need to resubmit letters to your
Senators
because of the bill number changes; they are aware of
the
change and
any correspondence will follow the current version.

Section 1062 of S.1438 is the bill’s portion that
contains
the
demilitarization language. That can be found at
www.senate.gov (type in
                    “S.1438” under Bill Search.)

EAA Warbirds Government Affairs Committee members, as
well
as the
EAA Government Programs Office, are working with
senators
and
representatives to ensure that the final version
submitted
to the
President does not contain the demilitarization section.
Further updates
will be provided here when available.
