Hello Listers
Here is a 6 wheel drive hybrid being built as we speak in Binghamton NY.

The design is straight forward. Take a CJ2A and lengthen the frame and box
in the additon as well.
Then build externaly mounted spring / shackle brackets

Add the 2nd., differential with the springs outside of the frame instead of
under the frame as with the original Diff. This allows the rear ends to be
quite close to each other keeping the wheel base at a minimum.
The axles do not pivot in between.

To drive the second diff., a chain sprocket was added in front of /onto the
original yoke / univ joint
This sprocket drives an heavy duty chain up and over the original diff.,
then through a shaft mounted to two self centering bearings fixed to an
5/16th steel plate. Next, the shaft has another U-joint that drives down to
the second diff. at a slight greater angle than the original setup

The bearings and plate are securely held on place with 3 hefty u bolts
This is extremely sturdy when you see it in person. Chain tension is
effected by raising / shims the bearings on the plate - the bearings are
also self centering.

The new extended floor and tub and new hat channels are ready to be mig
welded together. Some tub is original while the rear is mostly a complete
build from scratch. All tub pieces were ready for welding when I saw this
Hybrid, last week.
The owner builder has already driven this beauty around his driveway. I
image it will be a real crowd pleaser when he takes it to the shows here in
the North East.
Bill, comes from the upstate NY area.

Bill, has 5 jeeps of showroom finish that were all total basket cases -
especially the salt rotted tubs.
His work is impeccable and if anyone would like more info... I will pass on
your questions until he decides to open up his computer ...as he wishes.
Bill is also extremely accessible... and is totally involved with the
hobby and the organization of our local MVPA chapter.

More pictures to come as thre tub will be rising off the bench as we write.

Still tending my straggly flock of CJ2As and MB's Unfortunately, one of my
flock may soon be sacrificed to the Willys Gods, before Thanksgiving -
bummer, but the lil' 47 runt must go!
