Steve,

I agree. Perhaps I should've elaborated on what
I was thinking. The point I was trying to make was
that while email may be quick&easy for us, it doesn't
quite do the job that we think it might.

I was duped by the ease of it just the other day.

response from "Se nator Warner"

Hi John,

>Of particular interest to us is paragraph 3 of Senator
>Warner's email:

Uhm... normally I am a pretty bright guy, but I don't see what interest
this email has in regards to demil stuff. Paragraph 3 simply talks about
the Privacy Act which is there to protect us from unlawful intrusion into
our personal affairs by random entities (government or otherwise).
Warner's office requires some proof that you are who you say you are when
making a request for direct assistance with a Federal Agency. Say for
example the IRS is doing something to you that it shouldn't be, you can't
send an email and ask Warner's office to go poking around for IRS
information. Instead, you have to give some basic form of proof that you
are who you say you are before Warner's office can get access to your
personal information. This is there for our protection, and we should be
glad that it is.
