Does it over heat?
If not, don't worry about it.
If it does, does he fill it running and run it long enough the cycle the
thermostat?

Subject: [MV] M38A1 cooling problem - one of our club members

I have a friend, a member of our club, who has an unusual problem with his
M38 cooling system.

A little background history first. The engine has been rebuilt within the
last year. The radiator has been recently rebuilt. Both radiator hoses are
firm, one has a coil spring (the bottom hose) to prevent collapsing. The
water pump is also recently new.

Now the problem, intermittently the radiator overflows through the overflow
tube. No temperature spike on the gage and the gage is working normally.
The radiator cap is brand new. This problem does not occur every time he
drives it, but does occur often enough to be more than a coincidence. The
owner has been unable to deliberately induce the failure.

No oil in the radiator and no water on the dipstick. The oil is synthetic.

Everybody here is stumped. Anybody have any idea what might be the problem?
