The Broken Paratrooper Sitrep

Just wanted to let everyone know that after 4+ months in various hospitals
and multiple surgeries to repair my injuries sustained in the Ste Mere
Eglise/La Fiere WWII commemorative jump in June, I am finally out of the
hospital and home.

I am up and about on my right foot and a walker or crutches, but still spend
the bulk of my time in a wheelchair. As my endurance increases, I'll be
able to use crutches more and wheelchair less. I still have to have at
least one more surgery on my left ankle before I'll be able to walk on left
foot/leg. Still, considering the extent of my injuries, I am doing pretty
good. I suppose I am the most recent and hopefully last US Army airborne
casualty of Normandy (no, I don't even pretend to be of the caliber and
character of the WWII vets)

Thanks to all for prayers, well wishes and cards.

Hopefully, I'll soon be more involved with my groups and friends. Sorry to
anyone who sent cards, letters and e-mails and did not receive a reply. My
ability to spend much time on the computer has been pretty limited. I just
didn't have the endurance to spend alot of time typing and or writing.
Rehabilitation has been good, but somewhat draining after 2 months on my
back.

Regards to all.

Jim
