Using 60 Hz equipment on 400 Hz may cause transformers to overheat because of
increased core losses. The 400 Hz puppies have thinner laminations.

Lamps and other resistive loads and heaters are OK. Becareful because some
control circuits might malfunction.

Devices that rectify the line directly should be OK. This includes SOME things
with switching power supplies. It depends on the power supply design.

Some Tek and HP gear will run on 400 Hz. Check your unit out first.

Universal motors (those with brushes) are likely OK for short periods of time.
They may overheat if used for longer periods. They will run at about the same
speed as on DC or 60 Hz.

Induction and synchronous motors will try to run 400/60 x speed. Generally a
no-go.

In general, it would be a good idea to look at the power specs or call the
maker.

Good luck,
John
