Wanted to tahnk you all for the advice on the "new" truck. I believe
it is an M62. I am not sure, seems the only time I get to work on it is
dark, by the side of the street. Still trying to move it. Seems someone
left the switch on for 4 days. Melted inside the distributor. Swapping
out all the guts as soon as the parts arrive. Had it running on 2, now 3
cylinders. Just not enough to get up the hills out to the highway &
home.
Also, Joe sent me this about using the boom. Thought it was very good
advice. So good that when I saw the article on the jeep recovery in this
months Mil-veh mag, I cringed when I saw how they were using their M62.
A right angle & no supports out. Eeekkk.
Again, thanks all, hopefully I'll have this thing working by next
weekend. Steve

Warning: Do not lift heavy loads
with the crane at a right angle to the truck. This can damage the big
ring gear that rotates the crane. When lifting a heavy object from the
rear, have the struts in place in order to relieve stress on the rotating
mechanism.
