Now, I have a question for you. If a glow plug for a diesel motor (CUCV)
is rated at 11 volts and produces 75 watts of heat, how many watts of heat
will it produce at 24 volts?

Rob's Reply;
Jim I didn't realise I sent this to both the Military Vehicles List and the
Willys Techers too

I'm a silly duffer !

However to answer your question I would not be putting any 24 volts across
an 11 volt glo plug.
I think it will go poof really quickly too.

This post was to show the list that they too can do the math themselves
Now You've got me doing it !

However, last week I sent you $35 for a "three in one" technical manual on
the jeeps.
( Jim, sells books etc., his inventory of Manuals and Books is huge)
So today, as a Saturday special from my end ...I will only charge you $30
for these calculations....

Power in watts is 75 watts ...you say
Your voltage is 11 volts

I wouldn't do it, but if you must apply 24 volts (POOF)
The wattage would be as follows

We need to find out the amps first.
Then the resistance second.
Then, the new amps at 24 volts
Then the power or watts for the answer you're looking for ..OK

The amps P=ExI which in your case is 75watts = 11volts x Unknown amps
therefore; I = 75watts divided by 11volts equals 6.81amps.

Next, the resistance of the glowplug is R = E / I
which is R = 11 / 6.81 which equals 1.61 ohms

Next, if you place the 24volts across a 1.61ohms resistive load
Your answer is... 14.81 amps.
derived from the formula I = E / R

Therefore, Power of the gloplug at 24volts would be;

Power, in watts is P = E x I
                                P = 24 x 14.81
                                P = 355 watts.
I hope this helps
But I would not do it for fear of a big POOF'd gloplug.

To be politically correct...
I am diesel'd deprived.
So, how many glo plugs are there?
