It's been ten years since I rebuilt my MB engine, but I seem to recall
crankshaft thrust washers. Maybe I'm wrong, it's just a thought, but
if the thrust is not properly adjusted, you might be binding the crankshaft.
Same pulley that was on the engine? I assume the water pump and generator
turn freely or the v-belt is not installed.
