Open House for the Presidio in San Francisco

For those of you that live in the bay area, the Presidio is planning an open
house
on February 23rd. As you may or may not be aware, the Presidio was a major
point
of embarkation for troops headed to the Pacific Theatre in WWII. Many of the
buildings
have photos from WWII showing activities associated with the war effort, like
row
after row of slat-grilled jeeps lined up at Crissy Field.

Have you ever wanted to peek inside an historic Presidio building? This is
your chance to explore the elegant Victorians, stately brick barracks, and
Mission style structures on the Presidio's Main Post. Nearly two dozen
historic buildings, many of which have undergone amazing transformations,
will be open to the public. The day-long event will also include panel
discussions led by local preservationists, walking tours, archaeology
exhibits, live music and children's activities.
