RE: [MV] towing capabilities

My old '68 M715 "1 1/4 ton" had 2 1/2 tons of crushed 3/4" bluestone in the
bed and it hauled it no problem. I don't remember the springs movin' that
much.

I have towed over 30K lbs with just my 1 ton dually Chevy truck with a 454
with a gooseneck trailer going up and down some pretty severe hills.

If you are only talking about a short distance with no hills, 30k lbs should
be a walk in the park. The 5 tons are rated at 30 k lb towing load on a
trailer, not even a converter dolley. I believe that the 2 1/2 tonners
are rated at half that, again that is on a trailer. However these trucks
are severely underrated. I wouldn't hesitate, but the 4K lb in the back
is a good idea. Just make sure all of your brakes are working.

Where did you get the converter dolley?

I've thought about buying one for use with my 5 ton dump, but have never
seen one for sale. It would be nice to be able to pull short van trailers.
