Gee, I'll have to tell all my buddies that use the
GRC-106 that they're doing it all wrong since they
haven't managed to blow theirs up yet after hours and
hours of use. :-)

The AN/GRC-106 is perfectly legal to use on ham
frequencies in the U.S. if you hold a valid amateur
radio license. I talk to folks using them on an
almost daily basis on a certain net I check into on
40m...

They work just fine on amateur HF frequencies. :-)
