brake fluid

I have seen several posts lately trying to tie date of truck to what type
brake fluid it might have.

This will prove to be a fruitless quest; I have a friend that a few years
back imported WC51's, WC52's, WC62's, CCKW's in various configurations.
They had been turned over to Norway at the end of WWII and were in new
condition, EXCEPT - they have silicone brake fluid, Norway's version of NDT
tires, window shade thing in front of radiator that can be run up and down
from inside truck to assist in cooling/warming engine. There is a decal on
dash about brake fluid. I have seen same decal on M35's that had NATO
upgrade in the 70's. BUT it seems that some that got NATO upgrade did not
get silicone brake fluid.

Only one sure way is to test it to see what you have, and I have forgotten
the test, but, am sure someone on list remembers how.

Still around the corner there may wait, a new road or a secret gate. Though
I have often passed them by, a day will come, when I shall take, the hidden
paths that run west of the moon and east of the sun.
