Brett....
the differential construction was always a problem. I have copies of Ford
internal documents which comment on the heat buildup problem, caused mainly
by the small capacity for lube in the body of the diff.
However, there was an extra problem with diffs made by the Canadian Acme
company, so it may be an idea to check whether your diff is an Acme version.
But expect the diffs to get hot in normal running anyway.
