DOT 3 (glycol based) does not mix with DOT 5 (silicon based).
Your vehicle's brake system was most likely designed for DOT 3 fluid,
continue to use it.
DOT 5 brake fluid does not mix with water, DOT 3 does. In cold weather
isolated pockets of water may freeze when using DOT 5.
The good thing about the silicon based brake fluid is that it will not remove
paint.
DOT 3 is a great paint remover, so don't spill it.
