 Sandman,
I installed one in my truck. It can be installed in a couple of hours
without too much trouble. You can install the kit without removing the
transfer case from the truck. Follow the directions, and remove the linkage
between the transfer case and transmission. There is a shaft that protrudes
out of the front housing on the transfer case. I found it necessary to torch
a small hole in the crossmember for that shaft to go through when sliding
the front housing of the transfer case off. This kit includes some of the
gears in the transfer case so that the front axle of the truck will now
drive at the same speed as the rear axles. (previously the front axle drives
7% slower than the rear axles.) If you ever plan to install the lock out
hubs that are available, you will need this kit or replace the transfer case
with the air lock type.

Good luck
